Teen sensation Justin Bieber recently announced that he was looking for a new home, and many were surprised to hear that Atlanta was at the top of his list. However, Atlanta’s strong economy, diverse cultural scene and excellent amenities has seen the city’s population grow every year. With an eclectic combination of styles from old southern design to a more modern edge, it’s little wonder that Atlanta’s luxury home market is rapidly becoming desirable for celebrities and affluent home buyers alike. But where should a search for luxury homes in the ATL?

Druid Hills
Movie lovers are likely already familiar with the green spaces, rolling hills and stately southern homes of Druid Hills as the backdrop to the film, Driving Miss Daisy. Developed by NYC’s Central Park designer Frederick Law Olmstead, Druid Hills enjoys a certain amount of fame as one of the few communities on the National Historic Register. This area is perfect for those who are looking for a range of homes and options to choose from, as structures include anything from Georgian to Italian Renaissance.

Brookhaven
Operating as its own “submetro” and also on the National Historic Register is the quietly beautiful suburb of  Brookhaven. Like Druid Hills, properties here are eclectic, with 1920’s bungalows nestling up to multi-million dollar new builds. With affluent local college kids mixing with the millionaires, Brookhaven’s amenities include a variety of high-end local shops, multi-starred restaurants and multicultural entertainment options.

Dunwoody
With it’s easy accessibility to the city and huge homes, it’s easy to see why celebrities such as Sean Puffy Combs and Toni Braxton have made their home in this quiet suburb of Atlanta. Homes are predominantly new-build, with luxury features, and mansions frequently feature 7 or more bedrooms and bathrooms. One of Atlanta’s most luxurious shopping destinations, Perimeter Mall, is also nearby, making those fashion emergencies and big ticket item requirements as close as the front door.

Buckhead
Sometimes called the “Beverly Hills of the East” and referred to as “where old money lives and where new money parties” by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Buckhead has quickly become one of Atlanta’s hot spots for luxury living. Celebrity spotting is easy, with Andre 3000, Elton John and Janet Jackson just being a few of the famous faces that own high-end homes in the area. Offerings are mixed, including everything from leafy southern-style homes to high-rise penthouse apartments.

Ansley Park
While a great deal of Atlanta’s luxury homes lie just outside the city, those who are looking to keep it urban should look no further than Ansley Park. Located just north of downtown, the area is just steps from Piedmont Park, one of the largest public parks in the city. Home offerings are mixed, but all offer manicured lawns, leafy, wooded areas and a feeling of calm in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city.

Atlanta’s luxury housing market offers a wide variety of styles and options to suit nearly every home buyer. From southern-style homes to edgy, modern penthouse suites, the city is teeming with a selection of luxury properties. It’s no wonder that Atlanta is rapidly becoming a target for those in the market.
